Today, May 14 2024, marks the 80th birthday of the maker himself.
George Lucas’ pioneering film work, business savvy, and humanitarian worldview have inspired fans around the world for decades. It’s thanks to his life that I personally found the direction to switch up a boring life, retrain, and find a career that I love.
Many happy returns, Mr Lucas. The Force will be with you always.

Lucas doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how smartly his six film saga fits together. What might, in isolation, seem like callbacks are in fact Lucas building one inversion on top of another, creating new meanings each time and forming an overarcing story with incredible structural integrity.
